Beach Blanket Beastie

I first saw this sculpt in Revenge of the Garagekit That Ate My Wallet. It was sculpted by Jim Groman who I only knew from the covers that he did for Model & Toy Collector. He later spruced up the base by adding one of those oval wooden plaques and a small bullfrog. When I saw this kit at Wonderfest, I immediately snatched it up. It is a hollow-cast kit with a hollowed-out base. It was cast in a straw-colored resin and consisted of three pieces - the base, body, and head. My only complaint is the female. Her body was roughly sculpted with deep gashes and cuts in the skin. I sanded and filled on her forever. The smooth thighs you see now are not what you get with this kit, so be prepared for some work if you want it to look like mine. The bikini is a florescent orange which does not photograph well, so the actual color is a deeper, darker orange. The illustration this kit was based on had the beastie with a floater hanging off his shoulder, so I took some monofillament line, a bead, and a small piece of dowel rod and made my own. Lucky for the fisherman the line broke!
